Black and White and Fab All Over!
For the Holidays this year, I'm feeling rather classical. We've spent all summer decorating, redecorating (and then maybe redecorating, again!) in beautiful colors, fabrics, and prints. Now that the Holidays are upon us, let's celebrate the classic and nothing is more classic than black and white. Just going through some images on Pinterest for inspiration, I am so surprised by how inventive the design community has become with this classic contrast. Here are a few items and ideas that I really loved:
Jill Rosenwald Medium Cylinder Lamp in Alice
Here is this beautiful Jill Rosenwald lamp that I adore. We are lucky enough to carry some of her beautiful items here at Source Interior Designs and this is next on the list! Normally we would see black and white in stripes, polka dots, or chevron, but this is such an inspiring way to work this novelty pattern into your design at home.
Schumacher VIEWS OF PARIS BLACK & WHITE Wallpaper
Now this is something you can have so much fun with on a really large scale. The print on this beautiful Schumacher fabric is so big and detailed, it really just POPS in an installation of curtains or even upholstered walls. It's really great to play with unique patterns like this to mix things up and bring a pop of interest in to your home.
Printed Linen Pillow Thornbird Black 14x18
My friend Michele Varian out of New York City just has the most interesting and compelling designs on her textiles. We are so lucky to carry her pillows at Source here in New Orleans, but that's only when we can keep them in stock! This beauty is definitely going to be on our next order...and remember, having a fun print like this on a solid or striped sofa can be a great way to mix it up.
Maison et Objet
I found this image so on point for this conversation, and mostly because it reminded me on a striped sofa we have on the floor right now at Source, alas ours is navy and white (another favorite of mine...I'm seeing a pattern!). I just finished an installation in my own home where we lacquered the walls with Fine Paints of Europe in a beautiful medium gray, which is an awesome way to give your walls a shine you wouldn't believe! I love all the mixtures of different blacks, white, and silvers that make this room really stunning.
Women's Cartier Tank
And one of the most classic of them all, the Cartier Tank. I have one of these, albeit a broken one, but it really is such a timeless and classic piece, that I thought it needed a mention when thinking of black and white together.
Well I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween and enjoying this beautiful Fall whether. Think about black and white next time you've hit a wall on your design!
Until later,
Evie
