Traditional Home Design Superstar Hunt
Each year, Tradtional Home magazine sponsors a search for the hottest new design talent and this year, we've been nominated. It's really such an awesome opportunity to be highlighted by this amazing publication and to be featured among these talented designers.
As a designer, we use so many different resources for inspiration. I like to think each designer develops an aesthetic- a look that exemplifies your taste as a designer. Of course, with each new season, there's a slew of new fabrics, paint colors, furniture collections, etc. that we have to process through so we can have the freshest, most up-to-date options for our clients. This research is really the pleasure of a project and the part where your imagination goes wild with the possibilities. Along with keeping up with our vendors and resources, it are the magazines like Traditional Home that offer a truly original perspective into the projects of other designers and help to inspire us all! I wanted to take a little time today to go through some of my most favorite rooms featured in Traditional Home.

I remember when I first came across this image and I thought it was simply stunning! The combination of velvet, leather, and marble is understated, yet elegant. I love the modern Knoll tulip table in the marble finish with these vintage pieces. Really such a simple and uncluttered design as well as a different take on what might be considered traditional.
Here is a far more traditional take on the library. I think they have found such an interesting way to highlight a natural architectural feature: the built ins. Normally, we see built-ins in either a shade of the wood used for construction or they have been painted white. Here, we have such beautiful contrast between the burnt orange wall tone and the slate that was chosen for the bookshelves. What a way to play on contrast!
It's been quite a while since I have gotten the opportunity to do a library, but it's publications like Traditional Home that can really get the imagination going on how to design these traditional rooms. For that reason, I'll be keeping my subscription and looking forward to the next issue!
