Engaging With Our Community - One Box at a Time!
Here at Source Interior Designs, we love being involved and engaged with our community. Having our showroom here on Magazine Street for all these years is like being part of a little family; most of these stores are owned by locals and we all understand how important community is to New Orleans. Maybe that is one reason this amazing city draws so many people from around the world to experience its charm and individuality.
Personally, I'm involved with several non-profits that work with children- something that's very dear to my heart, being a mother of 3 and all! At the showroom, we receive shipments of merchandise from all over the world: Europe, Asia, etc. and sometimes we have so much packing material we just don't know what to do with it! I wanted to do something that was more than just recycling--something that could be re-purposed for a better use.
A couple of months ago, I had the idea that these shipping boxes could be put to a better use than just recycling. My career in interior design began many years ago, as a child, moving things around and creating different environments to satisfy my creative mind. So, with this in mind, we took a shipping box to a nearby school to see what these kids could create from this blank slate and, boy, were we amazed! Take a look:

How soon we forget how to enjoy the simple things in life. These beautiful and creative children created a car out of a shipping box that they could all enjoy and play in together! They did this all themselves with just a little help from their teachers!
I wanted to share this story with our readers and friends to show how amazing a child's mind is and how they can be so intuitive and creative. I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I have.
Until next time,
Evie
